Le balenottere azzurre sono i mammiferi più grandi che abbiano mai vissuto sul pianeta, eppure non è facile avvistarle, né seguire i loro spostamenti.
Le orche invece hanno fama di voraci predatori: di recente è stato anche scoperto un gruppo che usa una tecnica di caccia originale.
Il DVD, composto da due filmati e relativi sottocapitoli, esalta la bellezza e le caratteristiche dei due giganti del mare che, per motivi diversi, attirano l’attenzione della comunità scientifica. Alcuni ricercatori hanno seguito le balenottere azzurre per scoprire dove si riproducono; solo così sarà possibile proteggerle. Nella baia di Valdez, invece, è stato osservato uno dei pochi gruppi di orche che, sfruttando la loro enorme forza, si lanciano sulla spiaggia per catturare i giovani leoni marini. La particolarità di questo gruppo è che osa attaccare anche gli esemplari adulti.
